     ABOUT MARIANA:
    Mariana Nenadic Shanks is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. Mariana works with children and their caretakers, teens, parents, couples, women and men dealing with a variety of complex issues that interfere with the quality of their relationships and their lives. She seeks to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship to foster a process of hope, healing and transformation. She welcomes the inclusion of faith and spirituality in the therapy treatment when invited by the client.

    Her counseling interests include helping those struggling with stress and anger management, issues of anxiety and depression, grief and loss, life transitions, trauma, women’s emotional wellness including prenatal and postnatal challenges, couples conflict, parenting strategies, multicultural conflicts, and issues with self esteem, self image and spirituality. Mariana is level II trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and may apply this treatment approach for many of these issues.

    She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Mariana has been married since 1998 and is the mother of two small children. In her free time she enjoys listening to music with her husband and building with legos alongside her two sons.
