Men’s Support Group – Overcoming Pornography Habits

About the Group
This support group will help you to learn and practice the skills needed to develop the confidence and self-control to overcome your pornography habit. You will also learn how to decrease anxiety and stress which are so often precursors to any addiction. We will learn and emphasize community as the group together will practice grace and acceptance. In this Christ-centered atmosphere, you will learn to increase your love of God, and others, and even self.
Starting February 25th the group will meet for 12 weeks, Tuesday nights from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (February-April) and then Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (May) at Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto.
About the Facilitator & Supervisor
This group was developed by Steve Barney, M.S, M.A., Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT 37839), Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT), and Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT). Steve has experience in both Pastoral Counseling and Clinical Psychotherapy. Although Steve operates a general practice, he does specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Steve was trained as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist by Patrick Carnes, a leading researcher in the treatment of sexual addiction. Steve also holds certifications as a Multiple Addictions Therapist and a Partner Trauma Therapist from IITAP, The International
Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals. Steve is EMDR-trained by the Parnell Institute as an Attached- Focused EMDR Therapist.
The group will be facilitated by Cliff Lin, Marriage & Family Therapist Trainee, under the supervision of Steve Barney and Judith Profant, Clinical Psychologist (PSY 20784). Cliff works in the high-tech industry and is currently pursuing his masters in Counseling at Western Seminary. He keeps a growth mindset and continues to engage in Family Ministry at churches in order to strengthen his relationships. He has experience with Children’s Sunday School, Youth Ministry, and Marriage Enrichment Programs. Cliff chooses to participate in counseling program to better support couples, young generations and families while also developing himself. Life is a journey with ups and downs along the way. Cliff feels honored to walk through alongside people like you, exploring, contemplating, and celebrating every phase of life while also growing.
Payment
The cost for the 12 week group is $300. Payment can be made by check to Christian Counseling Centers, 1510 Fashion Island Blvd., Suite 110, San Mateo, CA 94404. Or payment can be made via Zelle using the email address admin@ccctherapist.org. Payment must be received prior to the start of the group.
