ABOUT JANAE:
Janae is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P) with expertise and clinical training in art therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, and practices in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Art Therapy from Dominican University of California and a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Development from San Jose State University.
Janae is passionate about helping people overcome anxiety, fears, overwhelming emotions, chronic pain or illness, and low self-esteem or body image. Her training and current work includes providing therapeutic counseling in the pediatric communities. At heart, Janae believes each person has potential for living a value-driven life, and that self-compassion and self-acceptance are pivotal parts in their healing process. She encourages her clients to embrace the present moment in order to increase awareness and to cultivate longterm change. Her goal for each individual is to grow in resiliency despite life’s trials, to deepen in spirituality and faith, and to achieve emotional wellness and autonomy!
In her sessions, Janae will incorporate arts-based mindfulness practices and regular talk therapy to make clients feel safe and relaxed. Bringing awareness to the self through the arts is proven to provide relief from pain or distressing thoughts, reduce stress, and allow for creative processing of our emotions.
As a published writer, Janae is also author to “Coloring God’s Love for Me: 100 Devotions to Inspire Young Hearts” equipping parents and families with tools for deepening a child’s faith through the arts, creativity, and self-awareness. In her free time, she loves coming up with new ideas to write about, drawing on her digital tablet, and running on outdoor trails.
