     ABOUT DEVAN:
My passion as a therapist is four-fold: I love working with teens and young adults, individuals undergoing life transitions, individuals experiencing anxiety symptoms, and children of active or retired military.

The reason I enjoy working with teens and young adults stems from when I was a sophomore in high school I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. That year, and the years to follow, were extremely crucial in my development into adulthood. I felt alone in my diagnosis because I didn’t know anyone else who dealt with the same difficulties I was experiencing. With the help of my therapist, I was able to learn tools and skills that allowed me to live with and overcome the often paralyzing symptoms. I had a safe space to explore who I am, where I’ve come from, and formulate the dreams and plans of who I want to become. That is why I became a therapist, so that I can be that safe person for others, to help them feel less alone and inspired in their crucial time of development. This also inspires my love for helping individuals undergoing large life transitions (going into college, getting married, having kids, moving, etc.), because the process can be so confusing and lonely when we aren’t receiving support in the way we need.

Naturally, this is where my passion for working with people experiencing anxiety came from. It’s because I get it. I’ve lived it and breathed it. The fun part for me is that anxiety is not experienced exactly the same from person to person. I love getting to know people, hearing their stories, learning about how they experience their anxiety, and then working together to find tools and relief that best suits them. For more information about anxiety – I can’t wait to meet you and explore!

Finally, my passion for working with children of active or retired military stems from, you guessed it, my own experience! It is a really unique cultural experience as a child who has one or both parents who are gone from months to years due to their duties in the military. As a child we may not fully understand our parent’s absence until we’re an adult. It can often feel isolating when others can’t fully empathize with the turmoil that surrounds having or having had a parent gone due to deployment. I would love to come along side you as we make sense of your experience together.

If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out! I look forward to talking with you soon.
