Claudio Vargas Silva is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, ordained pastor and professional pianist. He specializes in counseling couples, children and adolescents. He worked for 16 years as a pastor in Brazil and the US. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Theology and a Master’s degree in Marriage, Family and Child Therapy. He is also a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and speaks fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Claudio has a certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and is a supervisor in training to help other clinicians who are learning the modality. EFT was originally created by Sue Johnson and Leslie Greenberg to help distressed couples to reconnect emotionally and feel more secure with each other. The focus is to help partners to more clearly express each other’s deepest emotions. As EFT has grown in recent years to help families and individuals, Claudio has been applying its techniques and interventions for these populations with great results.

Claudio is trained in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) which is a modality that utilizes play to help children from 3 to 10 years old. Claudio also coaches parents who want to further develop their parenting skills to better communicate and connect with their children.
Claudio gives the couples workshop Hold Me Tight® with Tricia Kim Walsh, LMFT. Dr Sue Johnson developed the Hold Me Tight® program based on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and her bestselling book, Hold Me Tight, Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love. Hold Me Tight® is a registered trademark to Sue Johnson.
