Dr. Mao is a graduate of the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated Cum Laude from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and received his M.D. from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He then completed a four-year residency in psychiatry at Northwestern University. Dr. Mao is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has special clinical interest in the treatment of depression and anxiety, Asian-American mental health, and spirituality and mental health.
